This is a part of a series that Bartender Jay is writing on "Things that survived the fire", click here to read part 1. Over 100 teapots survived the fire because they where stashed next to Quest. This is their story:
Our world famous teapots. Objects as quintessentially Queenstownian as photos of the mountains over Lake Wakatipu, The Nevis Bungee and the feeling of unashamed glory that comes from waking up with a killer hangover and your face crushed into a Fergburger wrapper. They’re a lot of things. Conversation point. Decoration. Friend maker (because sharing’s caring). But now they’ve added a new string to their bow. Fire Survivor. Yes, from the ashes of a melted moose head flew a ceramic made, cocktail filled phoenix. Though much was devastated in the fire, the teapots remain and through them the spirit and essence of World Bar lives on.
And now Ladies and Gentlemen we are pleased to announce the launch of Teapot of the Week! That’s right our creative and sexy (depending on who you ask) staff will be coming up with Teapot specials to tickle your taste buds and make your Gran throw out her PG Tips and replace them with our wondrous concoctions. Want to see what we have come up with? Well starting tomorrow, you can.
